The Resistant Versus The Persistent

The vote that resulted in the government shutdown was between the interest of undocumented immigrants and U.S. Citizens.

While the Washington swamp-dwellers are brainstorming the catchiest hashtags for who is to blame for the shutdown, federal workers are brainstorming how to manage not getting paid for its unknown duration.

After high-octane debates and negotiation the Democrats and Republicans refused to come to an agreement on immigration, DACA, and government spending which consequently resulted in the lapse of federal funding. This is a prime example of how the consequence of playing politics doesn’t affect the politicians; instead, it rolls downhill into the laps of their constituents.

There are a few things that should be noted in order to give context to the position we find ourselves in now. Firstly, resisting both the President and his agenda are not some covert operation subtly launched by the Democrats. Ever since the onset of Donald Trump’s Presidency the Democrats have chosen, both vocally and financially, to undermine his Administration. From the Russia collusion narrative to arbitrarily deeming him mentally unfit to serve as President, the Democratic Party has ardently fought, much to their own demise, to have the President removed from office. They have abused the great power and responsibility bestowed upon them by the Constitution by molesting the democratic process instead of honoring it. Examples range from undermining Bernie Sander’s candidacy to using the FBI as a political tool to illegally spy on candidate Donald Trump. Recent history is replete with examples of scandal, corruption, and an 'ends justify the means' mentality devoid of any moral parameters.

Secondly, although the transfer of power between Barack Obama and Donald Trump was without physical war, it was far from peaceful. There is an ideological civil war that wages and recently reared its head on the Senate floor. When all of the name calling, hashtags, and media sensationalism is stripped away, it is clear to see that the recent vote was between the interests of undocumented immigrants and American citizens. Do not be mistaken, this vote revealed the gargantuan, ideological gap between the left and the right. Anyone that blames the President for the failure in negotiation fails to realize that he has only been true and consistent with the promises that he campaigned on—namely 'America First'. The President is negotiating within the border of his promises and is not willing to shortchange Americans! What more could be asked of the President besides doing what he said he would?

Thirdly, the democrats have previously been supportive of what the President is proposing! In 2009 Chuck Schumer said, “People who enter the United States without our permission are illegal aliens and illegal aliens should not be treated the same as people who entered the U.S. legally.” In 2006 Barack Obama said “Those who enter our country illegally and those who employ them disrespect the rule of law. And because we live in an age where terrorists are challenging our borders, we cannot allow people to pour into the U.S. undetected, undocumented, and unchecked.” In 2015 Hillary Clinton said, “I voted numerous times when I was a senator to spend money to build a barrier to try to prevent illegal immigrants from coming in.”

This is simply obstructionists at work. Each day the President moves closer to fulfilling his campaign promises unlike any of his predecessors-- this makes his opposition seethe with rage and vitriolic hostility. We have seen that the Left is willing to do whatever it takes to stall, impede, and downright obstruct the President’s agenda. They have labelled him a bigot and a white supremacist in attempts to justify their irrational and hateful obsession with his defeat. They have used every branch of the government in attempt to halt his locomotive-like momentum. They have put the interests of global entities above the interests of Americans. But despite the purveyors of falsehoods, the race-baiters, and the resistant—President Donald J. Trump remains persistent.

Immediate response from top Democrats to President Trumps Immigration proposal is another nail in the coffin for the Obstructionist's party. Not one positive thing was said by democratic leadership of the outlined proposal from the White House. They are legitimately pushing back at anything he says, 100%. At this point, I'm ready to see POTUS tweet out in support of gun control, just so I can see the liberals defend the second amendment!
