A Dream Rooted in the American Dream... with Explosions


As a believer in Christ, America isn’t my home. This earth isn’t my home. The United States will pass, like every other country, but the Lord will remain.

That being said, I believe the United States is the most unique country in all of history and I'm thankful to be born here. We are a unique country because of the ideals that founded this nation.

While the stains of slavery and imprisonment were present during our founding, our Constitution had a self-correcting mechanism built within our DNA.

Dr. Martin Luther King saw this. He said that his Dream was embedded within the American Dream. King, who had every right to want the United States destroyed and rebuilt, was a remnant of old American ideals. He used the Constitution as a mirror to show America’s shortcomings. He said that America wasn’t being America enough!

While we have the stains of slavery and Jim Crowe woven within our tapestry, we still should hold these truths to be self-evident that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

* Disclaimer: This video, in no way, is meant to promote violence. It's really an exercise in well-timed editing and to have explosions set the tune of the 1812 Overture. And explosions are what we Americans do on the 4th of July... we just do it in the form of fireworks. My intention is not endorse war or glorify violence... it's just meant to be fun.

I remember as a kid watching fireworks with the 1812 Overture playing in the background. The canons were a nice touch to the fireworks. Then I saw V for Vendetta and the explosions set off to the 1812 Overture. It was an amazing amazing scene. It was the only thing I liked about that movie. Last year, I decided to make my own July 4th 1812 Overture explosion extravaganza using the best explosions in Hollywood. Here's the sequel for this 4th of July. There's no message other than the 1812 Overture, ideas that founded the United States and a parody of uber-Americanism and our penchant for grandiose explosions. Enjoy it this July 4th. Be safe!
