Most high school students have been told that a degree with improve their chances of future success, but a report from UC Berkley suggests that marriage and connections may be more important. A college education has long been touted as the best way to escape poverty, but students are coming to their senses. For people who have experienced poverty, the rising cost of universities and the extreme debt that follows are less than encouraging factors when it comes to pursuing higher education.
