I thought a national curriculum would promote equity. But it does the opposite.

I've been in public education for twelve years, so I've seen my fair share of standardized tests. Testing season is, essentially, one large joke. From what I've been able to understand, standardized tests are mostly about getting the most funding for the school as possible. I always made an effort to escape them, through parental consent to refuse, feigned illness, and a number of other efforts, but I still ended up in front of a computer screen every May. So, if you're in an environment that adheres to standardized testing, this article may illuminate some of the hypocrisy behind it.
