Welcome to Magool
Magool was created in 2018 by psychotherapist and human rights activist Leyla Hussein. We promote the rights and well being of girls and women especially those who have experienced or are at risk from female genital mutilation (FGM).
To learn more about us please visit our About Magool page and to join the debate you can add comments to our stories or start your own conversation by clicking on the “start a conversation” box to share information about your projects, links to relevant news stories or YouTube videos. This is a place for us to promote all the good work that is happening to end FGM. We have Community Guidelines to ensure everyone taking part on this site is respected, conversations are positive and all of us feel welcome and safe.
Leyla has called this new initiative Magool after a famous Somali singer whose music was important to her as she was growing up and because this name means early flowering. Too many girls have their childhoods cut short by FGM but Leyla believes our work together will enable all girls to have an early flowering without the harm of FGM and from which they can go on to achieve many great things.
Over the coming weeks we will be announcing how you can support Magool and how we will be supporting survivor led and grassroots projects.
We hope you enjoy your visit to Magool. Please leave a comment and you can also email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
