Every minute, somewhere in the world, 11 girls undergo the cruel practice of female genital mutilation or FGM.
This shocking number comes from studies by the United Nations and World Health Organisation who have identified that without accelerated change as many as 68 million girls are at risk of FGM between now and 2030.
Music producer and DJ Nicole Moudaber and psychotherapist and activist Leyla Hussein think this is an outrage and completely unacceptable. Why should any girl have to suffer this abuse let alone the millions at risk? They have teamed up to launch #Eleven, a new campaign to raise awareness of this issue and seek funds for survivors and activists working to end FGM. You can learn more about #Eleven in an interview in The Metro and make a donation here.
