Wear Your Values: An Interactive Ethical Fashion Show

In many cases, corporate fashion brands produce their garments in closed or closing societies that restrict individual rights and press freedom, where workers cannot speak out against human rights abuses. At “Wear Your Values,” the Oslo Freedom Forum and Remake will celebrate brands that are committed to improve human rights conditions at all stages of the supply chain, from harvesting raw materials to distribution.

The “Wear Your Values” exhibit will feature 15 ethical brands and portray the life cycle of a garment to show how, when, and where human rights abuses take place. Guests can view Remake’s short film on a day in the life of a garment maker, explore a modern-day cotton plantation created by BMF Media and Thread International, watch JAHNKOY’s artisan live-crafting demonstration, experience a Slow Factory runway show featuring sportswear made from recycled denim, and more.

Guests will have the opportunity to buy ethical products on the spot in a virtual marketplace created by Modavanti and BuildRx, and to vote on “Wear Your Values”-inspired designs created by students from Parsons School of Design. Guests will leave “Wear Your Values” with a better understanding of the invisible workers behind garments, and with new knowledge of fashion brands that better reflect their values.

Presenting partners include Arzu, Chaddock, DEAR LEADER, Design and Flow, Eileen Fisher, The Endless Co., Fashion 4 Freedom, Gustavo Moscoso, Indego Africa, Nest, Raw Spirit, There is No Limit Foundation, TO THE MARKET, and Voz, with additional support provided by the Cordes Foundation and Fashion Revolution.
