These Texas Republicans Opposed Hurricane Sandy Aid. It May Come Back To Bite Them.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and his fellow Texas Republicans are being forced to explain why they rejected a Hurricane Sandy relief bill in 2013.

Following the events of Hurricane Harvey, Texas Republicans in Congress are being called hypocrites after many of them opposed against a bill to send billions of dollars in aid to Northeastern states recovering from Hurricane Sandy a few years back.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie told reporters Monday, "The congressional members in Texas are hypocrites, and I said back in 2012 they’d be proven to be hypocrites, it was just a matter of time."

GOP Rep. Frank LoBiondo of New Jersey also tweeted out, "Despite my TX colleagues refusal to support aid in #SouthJersey time of need, I will support emergency disaster $$ for those impacted."

Meanwhile, New York GOP rep. Peter King took aim at senator Ted Cruz, writing, "Ted Cruz & Texas cohorts voted vs NY/NJ aid after Sandy but I'll vote 4 Harvey aid. NY wont abandon Texas. 1 bad turn doesn’t deserve another,”
