Spending time in nature has surprising mental health benefits.

Volunteering on conservation projects isn't just great for the earth, it also helps your mental health. A recent study followed a group of people before and after they started volunteering for with The Wildlife Trusts.

Two-thirds of the volunteers reported an improved well-being after six weeks of work. Some participants said it even helped their depression. Researchers think nature could be prescribed as a therapeutic treatment. They're still studying the effects but volunteering in nature seems to be a mutually beneficial exercise.
