Imagine not having to kill an animal again. Imagine making food out of water, CO2, electricity and microbes. This is the future.
This project is a collaboration between Lappeenranta University of Technology and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland.
How does it work? The food is a powder that is more than 50% protein, and 25% carbs and the rest is fats and nucleic acids. It takes scientists 2 weeks to make a gram of protein, but the more they perfect this process, it could be 10 times more efficient than photosynthesis at food production.
So where does this leave grocery stores?
