If Women Were Presidents

A Poem by Asha Faria-Vare (originally published by Being Feminist in August 2012)

If women were presidents, men would fear

These women might ban their TV and beer.

They’d make a big fuss, and say that it’s wrong.

Women can’t rule, it won’t last for long.

If women were presidents, I’m sure they’d be slated,

For the clothes that they wear and people they’ve dated.

The first will be ugly, the second just cruel,

The third will be dumb and the fourth one a fool.

And after the fifth… Your children will ask,

‘Is it true that no women ruled in the past?’
